Painting nº 25

I started the series with gatherings of human figures in different spaces, instants in motion that bring together photography and painting. Thus, the aesthetical values of photography are the starting point for this series of works. I have made use of abundant photographic material, selecting, and manipulating those I found most attractive given their technical imperfections: unfocused, too much or too little light, blurred, etc. With this, I have built up and magnified the scenes. They are mostly interiors where people gather in mass: bars, concert venues, nightclubs, etc. The atmosphere of such places seeks to transform reality or its occupants through lighting, colours, etc. It becomes a place of passing, incomplete and dreamlike, where the human figure is no more than a shadow of appearance captured in an instant by the camera. Any sense of individuality is diluted in the homogeneous mass of people.
